Over recent years something very important came into focus for me...
I love my family. I want to provide for them.
I love being challenged at work and helping to lead large organisations.
I love adventure and challenging myself.
I love the planet and all of it's magnificent beauty.
Nature heals me and adventure forces me to grow.
My mission is to show my kids, and anyone else who cares to listen, that the things above can all be true at the same time. We are so often lead to believe that we either need to suck it up and embrace the rat race or jack it all in and turn our backs on the grind to seek out happiness and fulfilment.
I believe we can do both. Want to join me?
My name is Jay Worthy - I am a husband, dad to five amazing kids and the founder of 28 Summers. I host the 28 Summers podcast (Available on all the usual platforms) and co-host the Man Alive podcast (launching Summer 2022)
I got my start in life as a personal trainer over two decades ago and somehow woke up to find myself as the CEO of a $1 billion company living in Chicago. After an adventurous childhood, my life lost its adventurous edge. Work and other commitments quickly took priority, and my passion and desire for adventure were suppressed. Through a series of life-changing moments and a period of intense stress and depression in my early 40’s, I knew I needed to make a change and get back that adventurous spirit.
These days I work as a Vice President in a Fortune 500 corporation with a determination to show that living a life of purpose and earning a living are not mutually exclusive. I am on a mission to prove that happiness and security can co-exist and that it's time for the corporate world to recognise that grinding executives into the ground and sapping every ounce of their energy is entirely counter-intuitive to optimising their impact and leadership.
I am now living back in the UK and focused on showing how living adventurously, and time in nature, is the cure for what ails us.
Adventure & Mother Nature can make us better leaders, parents, partners and friends. I help people see how prioritising their health, happiness and levelling up the adventure in their lives can unlock success and happiness.
I hold a Masters in Human Performance Physiology and a Post Graduate Certificate in Outdoor Education & Adventure, I am a qualified Life Coach and am close to completing my Masters in Outdoor Ed and Adventure with a research focus on the restorative effects of nature and the outdoors, particularly for men.
I want my kids to grow up in a world where men have new reference points for masculinity - one which acknowledges their basic human needs to connect, talk, openly experience the full spectrum of human emotions and show vulnerability to rediscover the power of human connection.
